How to Unpair Consoles That Can Load Virtual Game Cards

Follow these steps to unpair one of the consoles that can load virtual game cards for your Nintendo Account.
If you have access to both of your existing consoles that can load virtual game cards, along with a new console you want to use to load virtual game cards, you can pair one of your existing consoles to the new one. During this process, you will be able to choose which of your existing consoles you want to unpair.
Link your Nintendo Account to a user on the new console you want to pair, if you have not already done so.
On the new console, select Virtual Game Cards from the HOME Menu.
Select a virtual game card you would like to load on the new console.
Select Load to This Console.
Select Next.
A message will appear indicating that you have already paired two consoles. Select Next.
Review the information about your two consoles that are currently paired, then select Unpair next to the one you want to unpair.
Select Unpair again.
Message: The system you want to unpair is offline.
If you have access to the console you want to unpair, make sure it is turned on and connected to the internet, then try again.
If you do not have access to the console you want to unpair, follow the steps below for unpairing through Virtual Game Card Settings or the Nintendo Account portal.
Select OK.
Bring the consoles that will now be paired close together and select The Consoles are Close Together.
On the existing console that can load virtual game cards, select Virtual Game Cards from the HOME Menu.
Select your user.
If you have enabled identity authentication, you may be prompted to authenticate your identity.
Select Start Pairing.
The pairing process will begin. Select OK when it is complete.
If prompted, select Load to This Console to load the virtual game card on the newly paired console.
Using a web browser, visit the Nintendo Account portal (accounts.nintendo.com/portal).
Sign in to the Nintendo Account linked to the console you want to pair.
Select Consoles.
Select Consoles that can use virtual game cards. .
Select Unpair below the console you want to unpair.
Message: (console nickname) cannot currently be unpaired
his indicates that you have already used the Nintendo Account portal to unpair a console in the past year. You can only unpair a console once per year using the website.
If you have one of your consoles that can load virtual game cards along with a new console you wish to pair, you can unpair the desired console by following the process to pair the other two.
If you have already unpaired a console through the website in the past year and you do not have access to any of your consoles that can load virtual game cards, please contact us for support.
Select Unpair again to confirm.
On the console you have access to, select Virtual Game Cards from the HOME Menu.
Select Settings
The list of your current consoles sharing virtual game cards will appear. Select the console you want to unpair.
Select Unpair.
Review the information about unpairing that appears, then select Unpair again to confirm.
Message: Unable to unpair the selected console because it is currently not connected to the internet.
If you have access to the console you want to unpair, we recommend turning it on and connecting to the internet, then trying again.
If you do not have access to the console you want to unpair:
Select Force Unpair Console.
Important: Unpairing a console through this process can only be done once per year. If you have access to the console you want to unpair, we recommend using one of the other methods for unpairing.
Review the information about forcible unpairing that appears, then select Unpair again to confirm.
Important: If you receive the message "Unable to unpair the console", you have already used this process to unpair a console in the past year.
