Identity Authentication Settings Guide
Steps for managing your identity authentication settings on Nintendo Switch 2 or Nintendo Switch.
Information
If you wish, you can restrict access to a few select features on your console by requiring entry of a PIN or signing in to your Nintendo Account.
By default this setting is turned off, which means you will not be asked for identity authentication when accessing these features, and any other users on the system will also be able to freely access the features by selecting your user.
What to do
From the HOME Menu, select your user icon.
Scroll down and select Identity Authentication Settings.
You may be prompted to confirm your identity by re-entering your password, re-authenticating with your passkey and/or by verifying your email address.
Select Authentication Method and choose between "Nintendo Account Sign-In" or "PIN".
If you chose "PIN", follow the on-screen instructions to create a 4 to 8 digit PIN.
Choose whether or not to require identity authentication for each listed feature.
Note that on Nintendo Switch, the only option is "When Viewing Your Virtual Game Cards".
Additional information
Note that these settings are unique to each of your consoles. You can choose to use different methods on each of your consoles, and can have a unique PIN for each console.
With the PIN entry screen displayed, press the + Button.
Select Sign In.
Sign in to your Nintendo Account.
A message will appear indicating that your PIN has been deleted. Select OK.
Note that this will not turn off identity authentication, but instead switch it to requiring you to sign in to your Nintendo Account. You can change back to the PIN authentication method and create a new PIN in your User Settings.
