Join Fox McCloud and his crew in Star Fox, a high-octane adventure!
26 June 2026
(Note: While it seems like we're required to say, ‘Do a barrel roll!’ while talking about the new Star Fox game for the Nintendo Switch 2 system, we will not this time. Well…not counting the time we just said it to say we're not going to say it. Oh no, this is already falling apart!)
The Lylat System is under siege due to the evil machinations of Dr. Andross and his minions. Luckily, the heroic (and totally not motivated by money) Star Fox team is here to clean up the mess and take the fight back to Andross.
As Fox McCloud, you'll pilot an advanced space fighter called the Arwing, dodging and blasting your way to the end of each mission. Rounding out the crew is an engineer named Slippy, a veteran pilot/mentor named Peppy, and a Falco who is, um, Falco. (If you ask him, he'll say that he's the best pilot of the group.)
Together, they are team Star Fox!
All systems go
This cinematic take on the Lylat Wars story features new fully voiced dialogue and cutscenes, a rousing orchestrated soundtrack, an additional Easy difficulty setting (and unlockable Expert Difficulty mode), and a complete visual overhaul for Nintendo Switch 2. You'll visit diverse environments during your adventure—from a lava ocean to a deadly asteroid belt to the enemy stronghold on planet Venom.
You can also play each mission in Challenge mode to clear special objectives that unlock in-game rewards (like Holoviewer logs), experience the entire campaign via a first-person cockpit mode, or pass a Joy-Con™ 2 controller to a friend so they can join you as a gunner or pilot in two-player co-op. You can also experience the entire story campaign and Challenge mode together locally or online over GameShare* via GameChat.
Find all the pathways
The campaign is meant to be replayed multiple times, so be on the lookout for certain objectives that unlock different pathways, bosses, and stages.
For example, in Corneria (the first mission), save Falco when enemies are on his tail, and then fly through the stone arches that jut out from the water. If you do this correctly, Falco will then lead you through the waterfall . Pay attention to what message you get at the end of each mission: ‘Mission Accomplished’ generally means that you finished the mission through an alternate route. ‘Mission Complete’ means you finished it the standard way. Can you find all the different pathways?
New Battle Mode
Engage in intense, four-on-four team-based battles online** with friends or players from around the world. You’ll play across three stages—Corneria, Sector Y, and Fichina—each with different rules and objectives.
Oh, and if you have a compatible USB camera, like the Nintendo Switch 2 Camera accessory (sold separately), you can play face-to-face with friends over GameChat***. But wait, isn’t that normal for Nintendo Switch 2, you ask? Well, yes…but Star Fox kicks it up a notch by adding Character Avatars. This lets you appear as Star Fox characters or use AR filters to layer Fox-like ears, sunglasses, helmets, and other accessories over your camera feed. And if you use a Character Avatar, it will also match your head and mouth movements!
