A Bewilder-ing book
One day, a book – named Mr. E – drops out of the sky onto the island where the Yoshis live! Mr. E’s pages are absolutely packed with creatures to discover – so he invites the Yoshis to dive in and learn all about them!
Curious creatures
There are dozens of creatures – both big and small – to learn about within Mr. E’s pages.
Some can grow crops for Yoshi to eat, others blow bubbles that Yoshi can use to float around, and some will even sing when jumped on! Each discovery can lead to new avenues of exploration...and yet more discoveries!
After you’ve first examined a new critter, it’s time to give it a name. Take Mr. E’s suggestion or come up with something entirely new – it’s up to you!
Feeling stumped? Exchange tokens you find littered around each area for hints on where to focus your efforts next. You can also scan compatible amiibo (sold separately) to earn additional tokens each day.
Egg-cellent actions
When examining creatures, Yoshi can jump on them, carry them on his back, or even gobble ‘em up to see what they taste like – and a whole lot more besides! Use Yoshi’s abilities to make all sorts of discoveries about the creatures and how they interact with the environments in which they’re found.

As well as helping Yoshi get around, he can jump on creatures for all sorts of effects and reactions!
Yoshi can use his long tongue to get a taste of certain creatures, and gobble down fruits for a snack.
Plenty of creatures can hop onto Yoshi’s back for a ride. While there, their abilities might help Yoshi make new discoveries too!
Using a mid-air ground pound, Yoshi can shake loose certain items or even hammer creatures into the ground!
After eating certain creatures, Yoshi will produce an egg that can in-turn be thrown to uncover new mysteries or provoke a reaction from creatures he finds.
Chapter and traverse
Each of Mr. E’s chapters offers fascinating new places for Yoshi to investigate. From woodland areas and windy mountaintops, to sunny seasides and bug-infested jungles, each one is packed with unique habitats for the subjects of Yoshi’s studies.
