How to Download or Update the Nintendo Switch App

Follow these steps to download or update the Nintendo Switch App, or review the app's update history.

Important:

In order to provide a better experience, improvements were implemented with an app update on 27/11/2025 which increased the required iOS version (16.0 or later) and Android OS version (9.0 or later). If you are using a lower OS version, please consider updating to a newer OS or use the app on a compatible device.

Note:

An active Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use certain Nintendo Switch App features.
Some features can only be used by Nintendo Account holders who are age 13 and older, such as voice chat for Nintendo Switch software.
The Nintendo Switch App is compatible with smart devices which use the iOS and Android operating systems.

Complete These Steps:

From your smart device, visit lounge.nintendo.com.
The link should redirect you to the App Store (iOS) or the Google Play Store (Android).
Select the appropriate option to download/install or update the application.
Once downloaded, select the Nintendo Switch App app to open it, and then sign in with your Nintendo Account.

Review the version number below for information about the update. Each update also includes all previous updates.

Latest update: Ver. 3.3.0 (Released March 17, 2026)

You can now save notes about users on your friend list to help you keep track of who's who. Note contents can be checked and edited from the Friends screen.
Other small bug fixes and improvements have also been made.

- You can now create a Nintendo Switch App album in the iOS photos app. If you want to use this feature, you'll need to enable it from Settings in this app.
- Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the order of screenshots and videos to change when downloading multiple at a time.

  (*1) This excludes apps with audio output or apps that use the microphone.
  (*2) If the power-saving feature is activated on devices using Android 6.0 or later, voice chat may be interrupted after the device has entered sleep mode. To use voice chat during sleep mode, go to Other Settings > Power Saving Settings in the app and deactivate battery optimisation on the Android device.
