How to Adjust the Display Settings on Nintendo Switch 2

Follow these steps to adjust display settings on the Nintendo Switch 2 console, including the console screen and TV output settings.

Complete these steps

  1. From the HOME Menu, open System Settings.

  2. Scroll down through the menu on the left-hand side of the screen and select Display.

The following options are available:

  • Console Screen. HDR output can be enabled or disabled. This changes whether HDR output is used for compatible software.

  • TV Resolution. This can be set to:

    • Automatic

    • 720p (HD)

    • 1080p (FHD)

    • 1440p (WQHD)

    • 2160p (4K)

  • Video Output Information. View information about the console's and connected TV's video signal output.

  • RGB Range. This can be set to:

    • Automatic

    • Full Range

    • Limited Range

    For information on the colour display settings that are supported by your TV or monitor, consult the owner's manual or contact the manufacturer for assistance.

  • Adjust Screen Size.

    Place the console in the dock and follow the on-screen prompts to manually adjust the screen size.

  • Screen Burn-In Reduction. Enable this option to reduce the screen brightness after five minutes of inactivity.

  • Match TV Power State. When connected to the TV, turning on the console or waking the console from sleep mode will turn on the TV. Turning off the TV will put the console into sleep mode.

    • HDMI settings must also be enabled on your TV. Some TV models may be unable to use this feature.

  • 120Hz Output.

    Enable this option to output at a higher refresh rate when supported by both the TV and software. Note that this is only supported at 1080p and 1440p resolutions.

  • Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM).

    Enable this option to automatically change the TV to low latency mode (game mode), when supported.

  • VRR Settings. Toggle on VRR Output (variable refresh rate) to be used with compatible TV and software while playing games in TV mode.

  • HDR Output. This can be set to:

    • Always Enabled: Output HDR video for all software.

    • Compatible Software Only: Output HDR video only for software that supports it.

    • Disabled

    Note that the TV also needs to support HDR display.

  • Adjust HDR. When connected to a TV that supports HDR, adjust the balance of colours to your liking.
