Tiny Takeover drop is now available for Minecraft on Nintendo Switch

Minecraft Tiny Takeover Hero

Minecraft’s Tiny Takeover drop* has landed for Nintendo Switch, bringing with it a barrage of redesigned baby mobs, a new item to keep them tiny forever, craftable name tags, and more.

New looks for baby mobs

If you thought Minecraft’s baby mobs couldn’t get any cuter, then think again. Baby mobs have had a glow-up and they’re ready to flood your Overworld with fluffy tails, teeny toes, and big attitudes. From cuter kittens to grumpier baby striders, tiny baby turtles to stout snifflets, you’ll want to travel far and wide to meet them all.

This drop includes new designs for many different baby mobs, giving them each a unique look. You’ll find new designs for farm mobs including cows, pigs, and sheep; aquatic mobs including turtles, axolotls, and dolphins; wild mobs including goats, camels, and polar bears; pet mobs including cats, wolves, and rabbits; and hostile mobs including zombies, zombified villagers, and husks. In fact, there are so many baby mobs with brand new looks, we can’t list them all here. You’ll have to explore the Overworld (and beyond) to meet them all.

New custom sounds

Five baby mobs are also getting unique baby sounds. Kittens, piglets, puppies, foals, and chicks have new custom audio – and they sound as cute as they look! Baby chicks chirp, kittens mew, puppies yap, foals whinny, and piglets squeal adorably.

There are also new custom sounds for some of Minecraft’s adult mobs. Pigs, cows, cats, and chickens now have different sound variants, bringing lively variety to your farm through distinct oinks, moos, meows, and clucks.

New item: golden dandelion

Some of these baby mobs are so cute that you’re going to want to keep them tiny forever – and now you can, with a golden dandelion.

Golden dandelions are craftable items that you can feed to baby mobs to keep them babies forever. Unlock the recipe for this item by breeding your first mob, then craft your golden dandelion using eight gold nuggets and a dandelion. Feed it to your favourite baby mob, and it’ll stay small forever.

Changed your mind and want to see your baby mob grow up? Just feed it another golden dandelion, and it’ll be able to age into an adult again.

New spawn egg functionality

With so much cuteness coming to Minecraft, you’ll want to fill your latest build with as many baby mobs as you can. Luckily with the Tiny Takeover drop, baby mobs are now easier to spawn in Creative mode. To spawn a baby mob in Creative mode, all you need to do is use the spawn egg on an adult version of the mob you want. So if you want to spawn in a kitten, just use a cat spawn egg on an adult cat.

For players in Survival mode, you can meet baby mobs on your adventures, or if they’re passive or neutral mobs (i.e. the type of mobs that don’t attack you) you can breed them by feeding two adult mobs their favourite foods.

New craftable name tags

Name tags are used in Minecraft to give your favourite mobs unique names, and now you can craft them yourself. All you need to craft a name tag is a piece of paper, and one metal nugget of any kind. Then you can give your favourite mini mob the unique name it deserves. In fact, you can give all your favourite baby mobs names if you want, all you need to do is collect enough resources. If you run out, then speak to your local wandering trader. Name tags are now a more common trade, so they may have some in stock.

New note block instrument

The note block has a new instrument: trumpets! Place a block of copper under a note block and depending on its oxidation, the trumpet will sound different. Let the sound evolve over time or wax the copper block to keep your trumpet from changing its tune.
