Discover an urban Pokémon adventure in a vibrant city full of Pokémon and possibilities in Pokémon Legends: Z-A on Nintendo Switch! Explore Lumiose City, unravel its secrets, discover Mega-Evolved Pokémon and face off against Trainers in real-time, dynamic battles.

Bienvenue!
Your adventure takes place in the largest city of the Kalos region! Here, spaces such as cafes, shopping centres and restaurants, coexist with more natural areas like waterfronts and verdant parks. An urban redevelopment plan initiated by Quasartico Inc. is underway, which aims to make Lumiose City a place that truly belongs to both people and Pokémon.

A partner for your adventure
After arriving in Lumiose for some sightseeing, certain events will lead you to befriend a Pokémon that will accompany you on your journey as a Pokémon Trainer. Who will you partner up with: Chikorita, Tepig or Totodile?

Chikorita
Type: Grass
Chikorita has a gentle personality. While at first it may wave its leaf around fiercely to keep opponents at bay, a sweet fragrance soon wafts from the leaf, calming both battling Pokémon and creating a cosy, friendly atmosphere.

Tepig
Type: Fire
Tepig is nimbler than it looks. It uses its speed to confound enemies, dodging their attacks with agility and rapidly launching fireballs from both nostrils. When it catches a cold, its fire becomes pitch-black smoke instead.

Totodile
Type: Water
Totodile is small, but it has a rough and tough personality. It won’t hesitate to take a bite out of anything that moves within its sight. Its powerful, well-developed jaws are capable of crushing anything.

Real-time Pokémon battles
For the first time ever, both you and your Pokémon can move and take action in real time during battles! Command your Pokémon to have them instantly unleash their moves, roll to dodge incoming attacks and more!

In addition to type matchups, you’ll have to consider the best opportunities for swapping out Pokémon or using moves, as well as how long each move takes to execute and its area of effect.

Embrace city life
Enter the Z-A Royale!

Lumiose is a city that looks quite different by day and by night! During the day, explore the urban landscape and catch wild Pokémon to add to your team.

When the sun goes down, the heat of battle rises! Located in enclosed battle zones around the city, Trainers and their Pokémon lie in wait, ready for challengers looking to climb the ranks in a fierce competition called the Z-A Royale.
The people of Lumiose City
Your base of operations is Hotel Z – an old but charming hotel owned by the mysterious AZ. You’ll meet some other colourful characters during your stay in Lumiose too!

AZ
Hotel Z’s enigmatic owner who stands three meters tall and claims to be three thousand years old. He always seems to be accompanied by a Floette carrying a black flower.

Urbain/Taunie
Your new friend who is part of Team MZ and works at Hotel Z. They may come on strong at times, but they like helping people and Pokémon, and they’re quite skilled at Pokémon battles too.

Lida
A dance school student who came to Lumiose to pursue her dream of becoming a professional dancer. She joined Team MZ in exchange for lodging and has become a trusted member of the crew. She’s a foodie who loves croissants, and her partner Pokémon is Staryu.

Naveen
An aspiring fashion designer who’s earning a reputation in Lumiose City as someone shrouded in mystery. He joined Team MZ in exchange for studio space. His partner Pokémon is Scraggy, but he’s not very fond of battling.

Mable
The acting director of the Pokémon Research Lab. Since the urban redevelopment plan began, the number of Pokémon in Lumiose City has surged. She is researching the habits of these Pokémon and needs your help!

Fresh fashions
Set off on your adventures in style with a variety of customisation options – change your hairstyle, hair colour, looks and outfits to create a chic look that’s all your own. Plus, if you’ve teamed up with Furfrou, a Pokémon with distinctive long fur, you can have its fur trimmed into fashionable styles at a specialty shop!
Once your look is ready, strike a pose and take some stylish photos around the city!

Harness the power of Mega Evolution
Certain Pokémon in Lumiose City can Mega Evolve by unleashing their hidden energy. In addition to changing their appearance and increasing their power, some Mega-Evolved Pokémon may even change types!
Magikarp
Gyarados
Mega Gyarados
When Trainers have a strong bond with their Pokémon, a Key Stone worn by the Trainer resonates with a Mega Stone held by their Pokémon, allowing Mega Evolution to take place.
However, it seems like a strange anomaly is occurring – wild Pokémon are Mega Evolving on their own and going rogue! These Pokémon can’t contain their strength and seem to be very dangerous. To take them on, you’ll need to fight Mega Evolution with Mega Evolution. Can you unravel the mystery behind Rogue Mega Evolution?

Frenetic four-player battles
Put your battle skills to the test in the Z-A Battle Club! Face off against three other Trainers locally or online and try to defeat as many of their Pokémon as you can within the three-minute time limit!

Each player starts in a different area of the stage. Seek out the other Trainers and earn a point for each of their Pokémon you defeat. Keep an eye out for useful items too, including Mega Power orbs that’ll allow your Pokémon to Mega Evolve – giving you an edge in the competition!

Plus, you can get competitive in Ranked Battles against players from around the world! Earn points based on your placement and performance in these battles and climb the ranks – from Rank Z to the ultimate Rank A! The higher you rank, the more rewards you’ll earn during that season.
