Cleaner / Maintenance Worker (Contract)

Our Technical Services Department currently has a vacancy for a Cleaner / Maintenance Worker to join their team on a 2-year, fixed-term contract.

Reporting into the Director of Operations & After Sales Service, this role is responsible for daily cleaning activities, routine upkeep, and completion of minor maintenance tasks. Where specialist certification or licensing is required (e.g. electrical or plumbing), the role will coordinate approved external contractors and liaise internally to ensure timely resolution.

Key requirements for the role include:

  • Cleaning all office, warehouse, kitchen, restroom, meeting room, and common areas to an agreed schedule.

  • Performing general cleaning tasks including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, dusting, spot cleaning, emptying and replacing waste and recycling bins across offices and shared spaces.

  • Maintaining hygiene and restocking consumables in kitchens and restrooms, ensuring cleanliness of entryways and shared areas, and proper use and storage of cleaning equipment.

  • Various warehouse and facility support duties, including maintaining cleanliness and order in warehouse areas, such as walkways, storage zones, and workstations.

  • Various minor maintenance and repairs duties, including replacing light globes, tightening fixtures and fitting, and basic furniture assembly or adjustment.

  • Various external contractor coordination duties, including identifying situations where licensed or certified trades are required (e.g. electrical, plumbing, HVAC), and liaising with internal stakeholders regarding timing, scope, and completion of works.

  • Ensuring all duties are performed in accordance with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) regulations.

  • Using cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and in line with relevant safety data sheets.

To succeed in the role, you will require:

  • Previous experience in commercial cleaning, facilities, or maintenance roles preferred.

  • Ability to carry out routine cleaning duties to a high standard, identifying when specialist or licensed repair work is required.

  • Basic handyperson or maintenance skills.

  • Good organisational and time management skills.

  • Ability to work independently and manage daily task priorities.

  • Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, and a strong attention to detail.

  • Good communication skills to liaise with internal staff and external contractors.

  • Physically capable of manual tasks including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
